Just arrived in the post today. Bargain. From the same guy as the watch. Now the key point is how to get the valet (red) cut correctly from the master (black). Hey ho, 12 years with these cars and still finding new things I don't know :)

The master (titanium and black) open driver door, glove compartment and boot - plus ignition. The valet (red) just does driver door and ignition so when you get out at the Oscars and hand the keys to the car-monkey in the dinner jacket to go and park it for you, he can't open the glove compartment and tailgate.

So he can nick the car but not the travel sweeties and condoms.

yeah sorry mate its me i know what you are saying about the keys and have the red valet and master but was the titanium key not the same as the master so can be cut from that?

sorry if im missing the point completely here

My titanium key then must be coming any day seeing as you have yours :cool3:

I have also just bought and received the black and red key from Nissan, these are OEM.

So all want cutting, currently I have a GTR key that fits all.

Do Nissan do them from the VIN number :confused1:

Or, can a local shop do them and make the red valet one work as it should?

the cutting is the same for all the keys , ie you can get a valet cut from a master. the difference is in the lines down the key not the edges.

I found getting the titanium cut they had to have a second pass on the machine before it worked

if you have a UK car the key code is in the glove box on a small round sticker and they should be able to cut the key from that better than from another key

Brilliant. Look at these pics and I can see exactly what you mean. Look at the thickness of the ridge running along the key blade both sides. When I get them cut, I'll give it a test and report back. Ta.

Thanks ianl, thanks Sudesh - as I said, nearly 12 years behind the wheel of a Zed and still learning. One day, a Zedi master, I will be star-wars-smiley-5504.gif

Both same as me, although I did see the OEM keys from another seller somewhere on ebay for a touch less but not really worth searching again for the difference :cool3:

Very nice! Should mean mine will also turn up very soon, ordered it 7am the first day they came on ebay lol.
