Morning Gents

Your help please if you will......

I took My ZX out for a short trot last night. Parked it up at the shop for a couple of minutes. When I went back to it and tried to start it, it wouldn't turn over. Dash lights came on but the starter didn't engage.

As I had luckily parked it on a hill, I bump started it and drove it home.

When I got home and turned the engine off there was a loud 'whirring' noise coming from under the bonnet. As you look at the front of the car it seemed to be coming from the back left hand side low down. I've disconnected the battery now to prevent any further damage. When i disconnected the battery the noise faded slowly like an electric motor slowing down and, obviously, then stopped

Anyone else had this problem? Any advice much appreciated

Anyone know a competent mobile mechanic in Bromsgrove area? as I recently split with my ex, have moved out and don't have custody of my tools :(

Many thanks

Dave

the started is on the right hand side (looking from the front)....

but since it's right down near the gear box it might be hard to tell...

It's not a hard job to do and any mechanic should be able to take it on, as long as you have a replacement unit (that is if it is the starter, but it does sound like it).

Thank you very much

I was hoping it would be simple and not hugely expensive!
