I have been grinding back the rust in the boot area of the car and basically I need to cut out and reweld. Its not to bad and needs 30mm deep strip with a 10mm lip welded across the back.

 

Anyone able to help or have a contact who can come to Pontypool? If I can't get it welded by the end of next week the car won't make Japfest :cry:

Yes, not sure I want to try as metal is thin, I'm ok with thicker stuff but I can see lots of burnt thro holes appearing!!!

not much you can do really other than turn the welder down! older cars are hard work to weld i used the have a 1990 transit recovery truck witch had more plates in it than origanal metal still passed mot mind!

Next question is where to get some metal plate ?

i have some in the garage witch we get off some guy that comes round in a van or we use gmf in neath they do metal plates in various thickness. i think i have a couple of sheets kicking about ill have a look for you and maybe ill come to you as i wouldn't mind plugging my zed in as im sure you have the conzort???

Yes I'm about, managed most of the welding today (sort off lol) but have a piece about 10-15cm by 15-20cm I don't have any plate for and not sure I can do it.

ok no problem i will try my best for if i can weld up a 20 year old transit im sure we can do something for u lol
