first time ive ever done this and TBH it wasnt hard, it certainly was a heavy day and im aching

 

i was sick of the weeds growing through the paving that was in place, so i went out this morn to pull the weeds and ended up lifting the paving instead and started to put it down right

 

not sure if ive got the levels right, but it's a vast improvement and now shell is talking decking and pebbles and features and so forth lol

 

the paving ois nowt fancy, its just the stuff that was down, need a few more so gonna scour about looking for some second hand stuff

 

im chuffed with my effort and here are some pics

 

 

 

oh and riddick helped by pissing on everything that was lying about lol

they are just sat on sand, the ground underneath is vwery hard, they aint great but better than they were, they had 2" gaps in places lol

ive got the last of my sodium chlorate weedkiller to use, ourlasses brother dug out with me, i laid them all myself and im aching, have been fitting a new floor in one of my bosses shops all week, new joist's and floor boards and its got me goosed

ye proly dont want to hear it but see if you lift the slabs again..put down a layer of anti weed tarp/canvas then a layer of sand then a small layer of crete level then lay yer slabs youll never have weeds coming throug again

im on the stella but it aint going down well, will force it though lol

 

he is called riddick, he is an american bulldog, weighs in at just over 8 stone

ive done this for this summer, hopefully next year gonna have some cash saved and get it done properly in some nice heritage paving, so will suffice for now

hes a cracker same roughly same wieght as my boxer...

we used to have a garden to do and the next door had an american bull..youd clap it and it would run round in circles about 3 times the come back and smile at you then do it again..great personalities

he is a toppa, gets treat like a kid lol

understand that.i work for the council..the amount of ppl we have to go to and weed theyr driveways and patios is unbelivable..not taking a dig but money spent to get it right is money saved in the long run..

id be happy to come down next year and help you do it right..

nah, i like advice mate, but as i said im gonna get it done proper next year, my mate is a builder and said he would do it at mates rates so im sorted but thanks for the offer

 

ive also threw a load of rock salt down under the sand, its only got to get me through this years BBQ season

nea problem...really your talkling about 60-100 for the material from b&q if you want to D.I.Y but if youve got a m8 to do it then your sorted.

Best thing for killing weeds between slabs is to pour boiling water over them. It cooks the root.
