does the steering wheel have to come off to replace the stalk or can it be left on .

I think it needs to come off as the stalk assembly slides over the spindle. Im only going on a spare one i have in my garage, looks like its the only way.

Groover is correct that the white plastic base goes over the column however the indicator switch is mounted on to that with two phillip screws, so all you need to remove is the black surround.

yes its just the black part that im changing . wasnt sure if it had to slide into position or not hence whether the wheel had to come off or not .
