Nearly finished soundproofing half the car, doesnt look pretty, but should do its job. I started off with larger pieces, but ended up being a nightmare in places to mould to the panels properly, so ended up cutting smaller squares and strips.

Looks like a pretty thorough job! I don't suppose it matters what it looks like really, no-one will ever see it. Its a job i'll do at some point, before i put sub woofers in the boot :)

Looks like something out of NASA dude :D.

lol I was going to ask him when he's launching it

Your right it wont be seen when its all finished, im covering everything i can see and then moving onto the cabin. Ive done under the rear seat and up to the B pillar, might even do the roof sections. Im also doing inside the door outer panel as well as the inside door panel, i want it to sound as solid and quiet inside as i can.

is your car too noisy as it is?

edit: just seen your last post! I'll be chipping all the sound deadening tar out of mine soon but its only an occasional use car and I like a bit of noise :thumbup1:

Cool!!!! good job, i bet it makes a world of difference as they are rattly cars, your sound system will sound awesome too, nice one!!

How much material did you need? And how did you stick it to the bodywork?

I bought a roll 52sq ft, for about £50 from ebay. Its like a bitumen base with the reflective surface, you peel off the backing and stick it on, use a wallpaper seam roller to get out as many air bubbles as you can, and if you need it use a hairdryer to help make the material more supple, however been fine doing it in this heat lol

It makes a difference already and should be spot on once the interior panels are back in.

does this make a differance do you think?? is it heavy?

Wrap some around your head and go running down the street shouting the Ailens are comming :lol:

Not overly noisy, dont get me wrong i like to hear the zorsts, but i use it everyday, so at night or on a motorway, it will be nice to have the inside of the car nice and quiet and hopefully make it feel, more solid when you close the doors etc.

fair comments, thought you used it daily. Would be nice to make it more solid feeling though. :sorcerer:

:lol::lol: :wink:

Its not too heavy on a roll so wont make a great deal of difference in wieght to the car, im going for luxury over weight saving lol

Well you might as weill do it all. I would do under the carpet etc to cut out road noise :)

done my whole car few months back, boot, doors, floor, under rear tray, behind the 1/4 panels, the lot, made a HUGE HUGE difference, harldy and road/wind or tyre noise now, and it sounds solid 'like a golf' (from the advert) when doors or boot are closed.

Cheers mate, something i will be looking to do :)

You can buy spray stuff, used it in a few cars a work very well. Will find a link for you.

i used undercarpet felt, and sound deadening material on mine. Hugely recommend it, makes the car so much nicer inside, sound wise. didnt think it would work to be honest but now im glad i did it, took about 5 hours all in all, including removing all parts, interior, cutting gluing, and refitting the whole interior.
