Is the PS cooler really needed, or is it another Nissan over engineering thing?

 

My one is basically a pile of rust, so I was thinking about deleting it and then joining the two little pipes on the PAS pot together.

 

Would this be ok?

 

I've already ditched the HICAS so the PS fluid is only working the steering.

Cannot see any issue without it, only UK cars had one fitted anyway, bigger risk of damage from it letting go on the motorway, delete away.

My Jap car has one. Only a very simple U bend bit of pipe but it's there. What is fitted to the UK models?

The UK model has a small cooller which is basically just a section of metal pipe with cooling fins on it. Mine the fins have almost completely rotted away on, so i'll probably just replace with a section on metal pipe and be done with it.

My PS cooler is now gone, easy job in the end.
