Hi all, wifey has herself a lovely little red fto, that has three oil leeks according to the garage. 1. The rocker cover gasket, 2&3 are the cam seals.

Is there anyone that could advise me if we can attempt this at home here in Crawley, only labour costs are going through the roof at the mo. cheers all!!!

should be fine. depends on how bad the leak is. if its just a little weep it would proberly run forever like that :)

Hi Car Mad, no its worse than that has to be done so going to attempt it on my own, just wondered if anyone here has done it really!

what model is it? we have mivec putting 240bhp at fly wheel,

when doing the leaks around cam belt be careful with the cam sensor its very prone to damage, while at it take the trouble to change the cam belt and aux belts you have to remove the aux belts so makes sense to replace as for the rocker cover thats just a case of unbolting and replacing again change the oil at the same time.

to do the cam seals you will need the car off the ground but don't try ordinary ramps on the drive as the bumper is to low to drive onto the ramps you will need a good trolley jack and stands, also before jacking up drive front wheels up onto a paving slab it will give you a couple of extra inches to get the jack under.

good luck and pm if you have any questions I will have a look on the workshop manual to see if its any help...........lol its even in english.

Than you,

i have orderd a manual for the car now, mind you I noticed that all the rocker cover bolts were loose so I have tightened them first to see if that is the problem.
