Some of you may recall a week or so ago my Thread about my escort getting nicked.
Well it was found this monday in a carpark in solihull, about 40miles from home. The thieves obviously went for a joyride as they used a full tank of fuel and, as i set the trip counter after every refill, i know they did 330 miles in my car.
To get into it it looks like they bent the passenger door open, then bent it back to disguise their forced entry. They then broke the cowling from the steering column to gain access to the wiring. They put a self tapping screw in the ignition to release the steering lock then a kind of little black ignition box so they could start it with a screwdriver. Externally it is just as it was before.
The thing is, after having it nicked i'm not sure i even want it anymore. I'm buying the bits to sort it out, but i'm in two minds whether or not to sell it. I didnt report it to the insurance, because IMO with a car worth less than £500 its not worth it, all they would have done is write it off and i'd be lucky to get £100.
What would you do if your car was nicked and you got it back?
