I took some tyres of my old zed cos they were cheap and nasty, but still serviceable, and sold them on ebay.

The guy came round, gave them a very brief look over, paid me the £46 cash took them to his car and drove home again.

He then gave me positive feedback, but did comment that the tyres were slightly scuffed on the inside rim and that the rim protector was a bit damaged.

However, hes now emailed me saying hes taken them to a garage to fit them and they wont touch them - they say the sidewall is weakened too much and they wont put them on.

hes provided me the garage name, and even taken pictures of the area, and hes offered to drop them back round again - but obviously i want the money, not the tyres - im my mind i sold them fair and square. Admittedly i didnt get a receipt saying sold as seen, but then again if he'd have looked at them and decided they weren't as per the description i wouldnt have forced a sale on him.

advice? i certainly wasnt going to let him keep the tyres and have a refund, but now hes offered to drop them back round... i dont know!

???

Lot of garages wont put on second hand tyres anyway i have to use a back street garage if i have some part worns so that may be his problem. Also a garage will tell you anything to get you to buy new tyres off them i think that is the problem here

My thoughts too - tell the buyer to try another garage!!

Anyway, back to your question. I assume you described the tyres sufficiently well and did not mis-represent their condition in any way.....

.....and then he came round, took a look and gave you the cash there and then. In my book that's sold as seen; he had ample opportunity to reject them at the time - it's not like he won the bid, you posted them out and he didn;t like them when they arrived. He actually came to see the tyres before handing over money.

I wouldn't refund his money; it's a done deal to me.

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Interesting to note which sellers I should not deal with on ebay from this club :tank: LOL

I personally would combine a couple of the ideas given here, the view of finding him another garage/telling him to find another garage for a start, secondly, why would you want tyres back that you can't/won't use on your own car and will have problems selling because in your recent feedback will be the previous sale of the same item? You didn't know anything was wrong with them and he saw them before he gave you the money.

I say recommend another garage, find one that deals in second hand tyres and will just be happy for the money to fit some he already has, there are plenty around, but if he goes to Kwik Fit or National Tyres, they're almost definitely going to refuse to fit tyres they didn't sell him.

lol, does seem to be about 50/50 on the responses!

Anyways, we managed to resolve the issue, he emailed me today saying he went to another 3 independents and they would still only fit one of the tyres, so he asked for a part refund on the other one. In the end i gave him £16 back, which means he paid £30 collected for one good part worn, and i flogged two tyres of questionable condition for £30.

Not perfect for either of us, but not bad for us either. im pretty happy flogging my old tyres for £30, and we're both happy so have a clear conscience.

well i would offer him £35 and him to return the tyres to you as you will be out of pocket due to his lazyness in not cheacking what he bought! i have been on the other end and i dont expect a refund when i buy something i shouldn't of

also do you have a consalt still i need help diagnosing a running fault on my zed and im not far from cardiff oh and i have only just bought my zed off ebat and im not going to the seller asking for refunds hahaha

ellodave. I do have conzult, but it's in the custody of Anthonyd WelshREO. Give him a shout and i'm sure you could pop over and use it.

Still on your laptop but keyboard faulty so have a another laptop it's been put on.

You can bin that laptop!!! The dongle is the main money! Do you have the CD as well or do i have that somewhere?! Saw the MOT post. will have to pop over when back from hols...Bought another oil burner, merc 320 estate (S210) as now acquired a dog as well as baby on the way! Put some E55 AMG rims on it so it's not so disrespectable and at least i have a car to carry all my wheels around in now! (3 unused sets in the garage! e-bay session next month!)

I just had a similar experience, a buyer bought a screen of me for his laptop, but he purchased the wrong one so it wasnt compatible. Yet he threatened me he'd go to ebay and would win as the buyer always wins, even though its his mistake, In the end I refunded him less shipping and fees and we are both now happy.

Even though it pains to do it refund him and relist them.
