most comapnies offer the 3 month deal, your classed as an expendable workforce, if they get slack they get shot, also if your not upto the jonb then they can get rid, i know nissan do this but after a year if your still there then im sure they have to offer a permanent contract

good luck in whatever you decide

8 years and no where to go = time to get out. I've just done a similar thing and got a £12k payrise. It's a risk as it's a smaller company but better than getting stale at the old company.

Go for it but keep an eye out for other opportunities while you are there. If you do have to look for another job in 3 months at least you can say that you are on more money when you see a prospective employer.

Good news on the new job offer mate - but I can see where you're concerned over the 3 month rolling contract.

But, if they've offered it to you it seems they may want you over anyone else. So you've nothing to lose by negotiating - after all you were otherwise happy (not to mention secure) in your old job. So why would you give it up on a whim?

If they still say no and you walk away, you're no worse off and you still have a safe job.

Good luck - I'm sure it will work out just right for you mate.
