I,m going to be fitting a new black perspex tailgate trim with the brake light in , now i prefer like the look of a led brake light compared to the crappy four bulb Nissan one which when lit looks patchy cos of the bulb arrangment.

I got a damaged led one off a Merc and removed the rest of the broken red lens

zedrebuild472.jpg

Tried it against the remains of my old trim to see if it could be fitted and it looks like it,ll fit with alot of trimming

The tailgate trim has two mounting bolts where the light is so i wanted to keep these intact so i removed everything around them and the red lens that,s inside the trim , a bit of fettling with a belt sander and in it went

Looks far better than those poxy bulbs IMO but i am on the lookout for a slightly longer one as the led,s don,t go right to the ends with this one

This was a practice run , i just need to do it on a new one costing £100 and is brittle !! lol

Looking good mate, this may help http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2-x-48cm-48-LED-PVC-Flexible-Strip-Car-Light-RED-Neon-/200580028565?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item2eb3805895

You would only need to hot glue in place, they are available in 24cm too, but can be cut at every 3 leds to size. Might be worth looking at for the price and less work lol

I,ve seen these Graham , in fact i,ve using them for my angel eyes lol , the only problem is i,ve seen quite a few others with these type fitted that have blown led,s but for how much they are then it,s not an expensive job to replace them , it,s just risking removing the brittle trim to get access that,s why i wanted a quality one with SMD,s , they seem to last far longer .

I know what you mean, i have had 2 of those strips to date, with faulty leds.

If you mean these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Flexible-SMD-LED-NEON-strip-RED-colour-10cm-piece-UK-/140354168332?pt=UK_HomeGarden_Lighting_Lamps_Lighting_SM&hash=item20adc2a60c

I have about 5metres of the stuff, let me know the length you want and i will send you a strip.

Ooh i,ve not seen those before and thanks for the kind offer bud , i,ll measure it tomorrow and pm you bud.

Cheers

Never really thought about replacing the four bulbs with leds, kinda had the idea they were satisfactory, must admit though your strip looks very bright.

Some top impressive work indeed - well done that man :cool3:
