i watched the budget speach, and IF they follow through on what they say, it didnt turn out too bad to be honest.

I thought it turned out well! Considering the shit were in (thank you labour), of course it makes the tories look bad because they have to cut back on the wild spending and make unpopular but completly required cuts!

1p a litre reduction, its not much but all helps and a rise in the amount you can earn before income tax applies, brilliant!

Also help for first time buyers, its good but it doesnt actually help first time buyers that have managed to save enough deposit (like me!) which is a shame, as I would have liked some help!

im liking the removal of the fuel tax escalator as well - so hopefully when oil prices are high they ease off a bit on the tax to try and keep the price at the pumps from going up too much.

agree Quavey - the previous government have got some gall to slag off what the chancellor's doing to fix their failures. i'd love to hear what they'd do to get the country out of the financial mess they created. I just hope to God that in 5 years time people are smart enough not to vote against the people trying to fix the problem :(

Its a tough call on the new government to be honest, they havent had enough time to show what they are doing. and although they HAVE gone against most things that they promised, its hard to judge as we dont know the full scale of things and they do.

The other thing is. a lot of people cry for cuts here and less taxes there, but they need to balance it. they are on a budget just like the rest of us, and they have to offset any savings we make by bumping up else where, so there is always going to be those who agree and those who dont.

Biggest problem with most governments though, is they tend to do it so the well off stay well off, and the bottom man (about 80% of the country) ends up suffering more, as when a those at the top get hit. it filters down the lower echelons. which is usually the majority of the voters.

Though i also know that what angers a lot of people is, they get perks of the job that simply dont add up. just because they are in a position of power, they should at least understand that going on holiday at the tax payers expense should be scrapped, i know its not going to save much on cash, but at least it sends a better message to the voters who 9/10 have to scrimp and save to do the same thing.

Also the second home's as well, there are savings to be had by cutting back on there perk expenses.

^ agree - what annoys me is those who see being an MP as a privilege not a job! this applies to all parties.

yep, totally agree there, but that will be most of them then lol

We had a decent one here for a while, labor but was brilliant. couldn't of asked for a better MP.

Personally i really dont care who gets in as long as they sort out the mess that this country is in. I'm not one for blaming this and blaming that. its obvious that any decision they make is for long term gain, but as things can go from good to bad in a political second. then any decision is a gamble.

Was anyone watching BBC news this morning. They claimed in the budget that petrol prices were to go down by 1p starting at 6pm. However alot of garages simply put the price up a penny before hand so we are back to where we started.
