Agreed. for ยฃ10 it seems worth it, which is another variance, some insurers charge a percentage of the premium to protect it, others charge a flat fee, brokers usually charge a flat fee and they protect it, whereas an insurer will charge a percentage of your premium and they protect it rather than the broker.

All being all, if you'd paid ยฃ10 a year since you got full NCD (Unlikely as I doubt you've been with the same insurer so you'll probably have paid more at some point) you'll have paid ยฃ190 to protect your No Claims and you've had two claims over 5 years, seems a pretty good deal. But in reality when you were younger, your premiums were higher, so you'll have paid more to protect your NCD, you've probably paid close to ยฃ900 in the last 19 years to protect your NCD and not even realised it, with the two claims you've had, you wouldn't have paid that much extra in insurance :D

LOL - now you're really confusing me mate!!

ย

All I know is that most insurers rate me personally as a pretty low risk, despite the fact I drive 2 high performance cars. So over the years they have all been pretty eager to accept my business on that basis as it looks like a safe gamble for them.

ย

Hence when it comes to renewal time, I just seem to negotiate an all inclusive premium that I am happy to pay. So ultimately I don't really care how it is made up - eg the charge for legal cover/PNCB/courtesy car etc etc - all I care about is how little I have to hand over in total!!

Simples.....:tt2:

Richard:yes:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Yeah it works out differently for everyone. I'm rated as a pretty safe risk too, been driving over 10 years, always had performance cars, no claims, convictions etc. But I have no NCD entitlement because in the last 6 years I've spent 3 in NZ over two different periods, I can still insure the Z where I live now for around ยฃ700 a year at 28, where we lived before though, was over ยฃ1000, JUST because of the area.

People ask for tips on how to bring their insurance down all the time, comparison sites reckon they'll get you a lower premium, but that's rubbish, they just show you the best price without you ringing around, but remember, there are lots of brokers and insurers who are NOT on the comparison sites, so you could miss out on some good insurance if you don't ring around yourself. In all honesty, the best way to get your insurance down, is; move to an area that has very little crime, specifically car crime (Including vandalism) and drive safely and within the law.

As for `simples` I see the inside joke on that one, because insurance is FAR from simple :D
