Any reason why mine looks like the black and yellow wires are spliced togeather pre sensor?

R u sure it's spliced? As the wire is a double core cable eg, inner core, insulation, outer core, insulation!!

Only one core of the wire goes to the sensor, the other core is a shield against interference and doesnt terminate to the sensor

;) I worked that one out after I'd posted, isn't the plenum ally? Does it supply a good enough earth? Thx guys

Its not grounded by the plenum. The shield is encasing the inner core/feed and terminates in the plug, to the ecu. Its like a microphone cable, which is after all what the knock sensor is.
