They're useful for getting off the line at Santa Pod. Well, they were until Nistune released the new mappable launch control feature that utilises either the standard fuel cut or the ignition cut like the Bee*R.

Now, they are a complete waste of time. Plus, the majority of them are snides. There was a guy selling them for decent money on Facebook as genuine items despite buying them for about £30 each from China. For genuine, you need to go to RHD or Nengun. Expect anything else to be FAKE.

Yeah I wouldn't get anything that is cheap like that. I bought mine from nengun. I don't use it to mess about with. I use it to gain a bit of boost at standstill and then set at 6.5k for going too far :)

To save me from typing it out again:

Just to touch on one point made in this thread: The Bee*R rev limiter should not be used as an alternative to the stock rev limit. The stock rev limit cuts all fuelling events at the specified RPM. This means that for an engine cycle it will run lean. Exactly the same as on overrun, the engine is simply pumping air which is perfectly safe. Running lean is an issue when cylinders are making power.

Spark cut should not be used on its own, the fuel has to go somewhere and at 7k RPM, there is a lot of fuel that needs to go somewhere (sump or exhaust manifold).

Bee*Rs have been around for a long time, I used one to great effect on the dragstrip years ago. There are a few horror stories out there, I didn't experience any issues, but then I only used it to build boost with a T70 on a 1.8L and get off the line every weekend :D

For people using them as a replacement for a stock fuel-cut RPM limit operating under load, it would be advisable to understand how these particular items actually work

?? Are there any fuel cut ones out there? I hit it so rarely now, is it really doing that much damage on occasion?

Oh well it's a cheap na, the oil didn't smell of fuel or anything last time it was changed, hadn't read that on the other threads.

What's wrong with the standard rev limit?

I guess nothing just didn't like reving that high, and not knowing what I was reving to.

In your opinion noel, would letting it hit the stock limiter at the higher revs be better then?

The stock limiter is at 7000rpm, I would rather hit that than an ignition cut at 6000rpm.

There isn't as much fuel entering the combustion chambers of an N/A at high RPM as there is a TT.

Thanks for the information,

well that'll be coming off at the weekend then.

It's a shame, I genuinely thought I was helping it by limiting it's revs lower, tbh it's why I like the knowledge we have in this forum, always someone to correct me when I'm being thick hehe

I can help you with a lower limit if you like. Really isn't needed though. The only time I have needed to lower the RPM limit is on a car with hybrid turbos, boost jets and no boost control. Dropped it to 6800rpm to keep the peak inj duty lower and avoid running lean.

Boost jets.....

Some good info there buddy. Thank you :)
