Greetings, oh expert ones. While doing the gearbox mount thing, I noticed a hole in my exhaust (oooer missus)

exhaust.jpg .

Does this mean I have to replace both sides from the flangy thing backwards? Including the big roundy cylinder things?

Do I need a stock part or are there better / cheaper alternatives?

I don't need a lot of noise and I'm not a performance hound (but a little burble and a small number of new horses wouldn't go amiss).

Everything else is boringly stock.

I should be at the Solihull meet on Sat so you can insult me there (but don't say anything nasty about my lovely ZX).

Get a nice Mongoose zorst from Johnny, sounds luvverly. Alternatively, you could bodge up you're old one with that exhaust repair bandage stuff.

Stuart - thanks, sounds nice. Is it so loud that neighbours' ears bleed and it wakes up the cops hiding behind the next bridge? Or just a pleasing rumbly thing which doesn't make me turn the stereo up or give me a headache?

AndyP - is that the Grasshopper Johnny?

It surely is. And the exhaust makes a nice rumble with no reasonance (except my garage door)

Thanks Andy - off to do the e-mail thing wink.gif

Is this a joke or for real as you now have me very concerned.

"The Japanese Z comes with a flare under the passenger seat as standard."

If it is for real is it clearly visible under the seat or hidden? What the hell is a flare doing in a car? I thought only boats had need of them or do the silly little yellow people try sailing 300's now?

It's actually on those two little black clips down below the glovebox (that get in the way when you're trying to get the ECU out). Most cars have them either removed or lost - probably for the best they are potentially kinda dangerous. Best option is use the clips for storing a Maglite I reckon.

I thought those were for a fire extinguisher. A flare how very uniquely japanese! To ward off car jackers no doubt

I presume they're like those things in US films that the cops leave burning in the road.
