Hey guys

Latz,

The crank bearings are numbered to suit the crankshaft journals. This is just a grading process and things like pistons also have similar numbering to suit each block. If you want to change them then these numbers are needed for reference.

You can check the bearings for wear but as your engine is stripped down, you could opt for a nominal regrind of the crank with new matched bearings. Would probably cost you around £200.

I had a tri-metal race bearings fitted in my Z although Nissan OEM bearings are more than adequate.

Steve

cool! thanks steve

how much where the tri - metal race bearings? just curious. have ordered the nissan ones but not sure if i should go for stronger ones?

cheers

Latz,

How did you order the shells?? You need to cross refrence codes stamped on your crankshaft and codes stamped on the bottom of your block. I still have this somewhere.

RCD

oh shit. thanks for pointing that out. i'd better get back to the suppliers then!!!

what codes am i looking for exactly please m8?

I am about to scan it now and post it. If file is too large, I will E-Mail to address on your profile. biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Robert.

Here you are Latz mate! Print this out, study and understand it, then work out what grades of bearings you need. Please excuse the grubby fingerprints, but you do get dirty messin' with engines!! biggrin.gif

Also you can see my working out for the bearings I needed. 6 big ends and 4 mains.

Any way, I will now send a hi-res scan to your E-Mail address. Use this one to print etc.

Can't wait to meet you at the meet on Saturday smile.gif smile.gif
