Hey guys

Someone told me that when i come to assemble the bottom end of my engine that i should use an assembly paste as this will stay there as the engine is turning and wont wash of or wear off until the oil gets there

anyone got any recommendations? and where to buy?

cheers

I use STP oil additive, its a thick gunk in a can. Its good for this sort of job.

Halfords etc should sell it.

Latz,

Torco make a very good assembly lube for Tranny Cams, and engine.

Costs about 5 quid each on average and used by a lot of the Race teams in this country so it should be good !

Please please buy it - im gettin desperate now god damit !!!

What I think you are on about is Graphogen, it's got the consistency and appearance of Moly grease and provides both protection and boundary lubrication to bearing shells on start up after a rebuild.

Give your local engine builder a call, someone like LCP should be able to point you in the right direction.

I personally have used Moly in the past, then used a thick oil for the first 150 miles, something like GTX, then a change to a good quality synthetic oil once the GTX had flushed out all the crap that might have been lurking.
