all sorted now

the fault lies in the ECU 99.9% sure here is what i did.

disconnected battery, removed ECU put in standard one switched on ignition, done Fault code test code 55. drove the car for 30 mins to let ECU relearn, came back did another fault check still code 55.

what do you lot think.

so i disconnected battery again put the veilside ECU back in switched on the ignition again error code 34 returned. without even driving it.

so out it comes again back to standard ECU code reading 55 sweet.

why is this happening? i thought that error code 32 would have been displayed if there was a fault with the ECU.

i know that harves did that. when plug was not fitting tightly.

i'll be in touch with me old mate who sold it me, to see wether he can sort it out. ideally try it in someone elses car to see if it does the same.

Tony, the ECU "remembers" all fault code for 50 start-ups from the first time they occur. Disconnecting the ECU for 30 mins may not be long enough to clear it.

danny i will try it in a couple of days then, cheers for the info. "T"............

When the ecu is reset it is reset!!! Error codes an' all wink.gif Sounds like the ecu would be more usefull as a door stop!!! It remembers codes while its powered up for a duration of 50 start ups - if it is reset then all the counters are reset and codes forgotten.

Did you indeed - sounds interesting ! Are we talking the whole ECU, or just the chip containing the maps ? If it is the chip then there is a possibility that it has got damaged by static and partly corrupted.

andy mat i changed the whole ECU, always leaving between 30 mins to an hour.

According to tha manual the ECU can remember stuff for up to 24 hrs !
