...on a sweeping left exit from the A14 every night my oil guage falls to almost zero. It does it with out fail, but only on this long sweeping decelerating bend. Once round the roundabout at the bottom, the guage is back up to 'normal'. I seem to recall reading that the TT cars were fitted with extra vanes in the sump to stop the oil from moving from side to side as long cornering exerted big forces. Does any one know if the NA cars were ever fitted with vanes or were they left as 'standard'? If they were, it would explain this strange behaviour.

I'd be checking my oil level carefully on a flat level road If I were you. If the oil pick up pipe draws air then you could get a dry main or big end with obvious effects.

Also watch out that the dip stick is the right one. I heard that some poor sod switched the Z auto transmission dipstick with the engine one and guess what happened to the engine?

...oil's fine. Dosen't use any (not noticable anyway). I always check it and change it 2 or 3 times a year (I'm keen on good clean oil). As for the dipstick, I do all my own servicing (so far) but I'll keep your comment in mind.
