ECU code 34!

bloody detonation fault. as some may know ive just installed a Veilside ECU upped boost only managed an extra 2psi before it starts to detonate. now doesn't idle below 1000rpm. checked timing and set to 13 degrees slightly retarded, set tps to 0.42v. plugs are set to 1.1mm as book says. are there any other settings i can check.

on start up all is fine after 10 secs car starts to idle between 14 to 1700 rpm for about a min, when warm idles at 800to900rpm which is fine. drive the car and the car wont idle at less than 1100rpm what is going on FFS......

ive got a busy few weeks coming up and need to sort the car. andys engagement party pick up front wheel hub from andy z. which i planned to get today. and the easter meet at brum. looks like all are on hold for the moment.

PLEASE HELP "T".......... :>(

Bloody hell Tony yer don`t do things in halfs do you. For the det sensor prob defo fit a 1 meg resister to sort that out for the meanwhile, clear the ecu and try again, idle probs could be due to tb clean required or idle valve probs, no disrespect meant but sure you hav`nt caused any leaks when fitting the boost jets, and got them in the right place? failing that return everything to stock (including the ecu) and see how it runs then.If you need a hand can take a look if you want.

Wooooaaaaaahhhhh there Jeff!!! I would seriously NOT recomend disabling the det sensor - especially considering this car is running upped boost!!! The cause needs to be found for the detting first....

Andy

To clear any confusion,

Henri Le Hir wrote a little techie on how to bypass the detonation sensor.

If you were getting no error code but suffering the dreaded safety boost, you can bypass the det sensor to remove it from the eqation when trying to diagnose why the car is running low boost.

However you are getting Error Code 34 your det sensor is fooked. Plenum off job to change or bypass ***No dont do that***

Agree with Duffer here, plus it's not an engine out job to replace a det sensor, but it is a plenum off.

im a gonna reset ECU clean TBs clean air intake drive it around for a while to give it time to reset and learn.

there is a connector under plastic throttle linkage cover right hand side of cable when wiggled car runs v.bad what is this for.

i will let you know how i get on.

Lack300,

Veilside ECU's are not mapped for UK fuel - usually for 100+ Octane fuel from Japan - I would either get it remapped = hard - or buy another ECU solution ie JWT wink.gif

If you like you can try using Optimax with Octane booster but i wouldn't fancy trying it for the long term.

Also the thing you are wiggling may well be the FPR - I wold check the links to it and replace if it is leaking ! that will be fucking with you fuel supply and might lead to detonation alright.

You will deffinatly need to Remap the ECU !! or at least get it checked.

Im afraid no ammount of TB cleaning will help you here - As Andy sez dont bypass the Det sensor if you are gettin detonation at low Revs it could well save your ASs !
