Z32 Transmission Problem

I have a problem with the manual transmission in my 1992 300ZX n/a. When the car is

off, it shifts into the gears fine. When I put the car in neutral and turn

it on, I am not able to shift into any other gear. When the car is off, and

I try to start it up in a gear (1st), the car wants to move forward by

itself even though the clutch is pushed in all the way. Any help or comments

would be great.

Thanks,

Nick

It could be the Master Cylinder. Check around it for anything leaking.

Your clutch is not disengaging.

Nick,

Stuart is right, the clutch is not disengaging!

First of all have a look and see if there's any fluid in the clutch reservoir - this is next to the brake reservoir and is a bit smaller with a black top. If this is empty then you need to top it up but also need to find where it is leaking from. If not then it could either be the master cylinder or the slave cylinder - both are reasonably accessible considering some jobs on a zed wink.gif

If its got that bad, topping up the oil wont do too much, There is bound to be air in there, and by the sounds of it, a big one.

Would it not better to see if it is low then bleed it? I dont know how to do this.

Stuart

it could also be that the fingures habe warn out on the pressure plate so the thrust bearing has nothing to leaver on
