Noticed today with the front wheels jacked up, once spun they rub against the brakes, and barely make one full rotation before stopping, now is this normal or are they binding/rubbing too much. and if so, how do i prevent this?

Featured Replies

Definitely rubbing mate - and I'd guess the caliper has siezed.

The same thing happened to me a couple of weeks back - so I got a replacement caliper from JeffTT, then got my local garage to fit it.

Alternatively you can order a rebuild kit for your existing one(s).

so if the case, from what richard smith has said, the only fix is a new caliper?

Hey Aaron.....

I just refurbed my EVO VIII front calipers, and as said before here, it is very easy buddy, well worth doing to get your brakes in first class condition.

you know me Alan, would rather pay then get my hands dirty. especially with something like brakes that i know nothing about, fook gettting them bodged :-)

how much we looking at chaps? no one has listed prices. or even, uprated/ different calipers?? im up for it, if suggestions are within my price range.

You can go down my road matey...........

EVO VIII calipers, 350 track discs, relocating brackets, yellow pads...= £400.

Or this cheaper option......

New o-ring/seal kit for your standard calipers, braided lines, new discs, new pads...= £200

Or the expensive option....

K-sport 8 pot calipers or similar, I think the kit comes complete...= £1000

Depends on your budget Aaron....

Alz.

...

I think k-sports are about 700-800 ?, and would be considered the budget aftermarket upgrade.

The expensive option are the more hardcore brake options that the k-sports are cheap copies of, like AP Racing..etc - £2000-£2500
