I disconnected my amp and sub today to get some wheels in the boot and i have hooked it back up all the same now and the amp power light isnt coming on but the red protect light next to it is. Why is this and how do i fix it? All the wires have gone back the same

Take out the speaker and Phono wires, double check the power, remote and earth leads are ok and turn on your stereo see if it stays in protect.

If its fine, add phono's and re-check, and then speaker(s) (one a time if more than one).

mine done this i disconected everything bar power and remote switch it came back on so turned it off and reconected the others and everything was fine

disconnect everything, then just reconnect the 12v, the earth, and bridge the remote to the 12v just to see if its working. if its not get on to the manufacturers site and look for the troubleshooting section.

had a go at all the above and still no joy :( ill try have a look at magnat site but it is an old amp

got 2 fuses in there and they are fine even pulled them to try and get the amp to reset

first thing id do, is disconnect the battery from the amp for a while, give it a chance to stop "protecting" then after about an hour, reconnect the battery, earth, and remote and see if it turns on correctly.

right ill do this next ill leave it for the night :)

Have I read it right - that you've disconnect everything apart from the power and the remote and tried powering it up? If so perhaps it needs a while without power to reset - if it doesn't correct it there must be a fault within the amp :)

Get this mainly through bad earthing.

Re earth it to a new point and try again, also make sure if its screwed down that nothing is touching bodywork.

sorted this today after relocating the earth and that didnt work i thought hold on ive got a fuse for the battery pos next to the battery. Went and checked that and it had blown. No reason it should off as everything was disconnected and refitted with no power going to it oh well sorted now cheers folks :)
