I had a dental appointment :tooth: this afternoon and shortly after leaving work I spotted a panda car parked facing the other way.

I joined the motorway and flew for about 2/3rds of a mile and then got held up and was travelling at about 70mph.

Noticed in my rear view a white vehicle with headlights on and it was gaining very rapidly :nono:

Yes it was the same rozzers vehicle I had seen about 3 minutes earlier.

Pulled in on the hard shoulder :confused1:

Officer came to my passenger side and I expected him to have a word about my speeding - perhaps, although I was not sure what he wanted.

Turns out all the fuss, blues and twos was because my front number plate is a little small

Admittedly it is illegal I will hold my hands up but would a warning and advice for me to change it of sufficed?

I have popped the 'legal' one on there that the previous owner did leave in the boot, obviously I do not want fine upon fines.

Just a warning to others - they are clamping down but I have seen a lot lot worse, spacings, fonts and all that

See the pic to compare the size, both are white just the flash as shown up differently

This is the smaller one on an earlier pic- is it really that bad

I forgot to mention the most important thing - I got a £60 dealt with at the roadside fine whatever that means, no points though - good times :surrender:

and I passed the latest MOT with it

That says it all though, MONEY, and easy ones at that

eeeeep had my tiny plate fitted for a few months now, not been pulled yet! I think its likely cos i made sure i stuck to standard UK font and spacing, although it is tiny :D Hopefully it will pass MOT in march...

It's a disgrace, if you had been driving a Rolls Royce, Aston Martin or the likes, they wouldn't have pulled you over.

My wifes initials are CFS, so for our 25th wedding anniversary (I know, two life sentences....lol) I bought her a number plate M14CFS, not so long ago she went out to visit her mum and dad, just as she left our estate, a police car parked in the local pub car park started to follow her.(where they pulled me for drinking and being in charge of a vehicle the other night....lol)

She was almost at her parents house about 5 miles away, when they put on their blue lights and pulled her over.

You will never guess what they fined her for, as the number plates she had on were standard size, and the numbers and letters are standard size and font, between the 1 and the 4, had been miss spaced by a few millimeters, neither myself nor my wife had ever noticed, I will try and find the number plate to get a photo of it and show you all, you would not believe it.

My argument with them was that my wifes' initials would always be CFS, so why would we intentionally miss space the 1 and the 4, they were not interested........:censored:

b*stards. cant believe they fined you!!!! I got stopped 2 mins after picking my car up as the rear number plate lettering was too small. that was smaller than yours!!

Thought you were going to say that they stopped you for them tiny wheels.

Tiny wheels with the deep deep dish lushy rears

My 'illegal' plate letters are 35mm wide and 52mm tall, they need to be something like 50mm wide and 78mm tall, so way off really.

I am not happy with the fine at all  next thing the cops will want some help from the public over something

cant you argue it? thats import size lettering - 2" high characters?

Did you see the person that got fined for going through a red set of traffic lights?

A bloke was sat at a red set of traffic lights, when a police car came screaming along with blue's and two's going. The sensible driver just edged forward over the white line and pulled over to allow the police car on it's emergency to pass through the junction. There was a red light camera on the lights, you guessed it, a fine dropped through his letter box, can you imagine what that is going to cause? Any emergency vehicle coming to a junction with traffic lights will not be able to pass through, because drivers will not move out of the way for fear of a fine. This country has gone mad!!!

The only thing i can really think off is that it is hard to read, If you had no border and no england badge you may of got away with it as it would be easyer to read,

This is my 3/4 i have no border and less letter lol!!! but its much easyer to read

Iv done this...and im not ashamed to say it. 3 lane road, i was in right lane, another car in middle lane...left lane FREE!! what do they do.....come right up behind me. Red light camera? yes there was so i didn't move and inch. Was undercover police car....they turned off their sirens and lights after waiting....so im guessing they weren't in a rush lol

It makes no difference mate, they will just tell you that their ANPR systems are not able to read the plate, so anyone caught with a number that is either smaller or not the correct size or font will eventually get a pull, unless you are driving a big fancy motor, RR, Aston, ferrai etc........:w00t:

Oh, I have not paid and can go to court to argue the toss.

Import plates is something like if there is not enough room for a larger one then it's ok to have it smaller but clearly I can have full size.

The bottom line is in law  the letters are too small I'm afraid - you will done if the old bill haven't anything better to do

I am driving a big fancy motor

Yeah plate is still wrong but it is much much easyer to read than the 1st one so imo it will be less likely to be pulled due to it being easy to read.

some lads on here have had plain ones for over 5 years and not been pulled yet.

I also couldnt get a full size plate to fit on mine if i wanted to :shifty:

Yeah we all are......lol........ but believe me, one day they will stop you and fine you, it's just a matter of when, I really hope for you that they don't, I don't want to see anyone hit with a fine, some people do get away with it for years, in fact, my missus had her number on three cars before getting pulled over, and as I said, her number plates were legal in every way, but the 1 and the 4 were millimeters out. Don't get me wrong here, I have a smaller than allowed number plate on the rear of mine, perfectly readable, will be changing it soon though beacasue of the way they are cracking down on this issue now. To me it's now not worth the risk............:surrender:

na i will bw safe as house. They do seem to be more relaxed around here. and you never really see them.

I also know most of them around here and there all decent lads/most are women and all know the car. so i will be fine unless some little jobs worth comes along lol!!!!

On another note the roads i drive on i have seen about 2 in the past year and the car has only been out once in a 9months :lol:

lol, cool, sounds like you should be ok........

I reckon bikes should be forced to wear a front number plate

I'd be happy if they just used normal beam during the day instead of fecking high beam!

The more days pass the more I feel how petty this 'offence' was.

I make every effort to make sure my z is in tip top shape when it goes out and mainly I am talking about the lights - they are without fault.

If I did spot a fault I would endeviour to mend immediately :detective:

Then I spot this tonight on the way home :mad2:

DSC00508.jpg

Some brakes lights stuck on and no light at all on one side - now which offence is the worse I say bitterly? :confused1:

This fiesta/owner will drive around obliviously for weeks if not months and no doubt never get stopped and why should that be - because it is such a run of the mill bland car :taz:

ive been pulled about 12-15 times in Hull over the years for all sorts of different sizes of plates, i got away with having a 8" long plate on the front for 9 months! i now roll with standard plate sizes as i got sick of being pulled.

now they pull me for things being to big? wtf.
