Looking for a workhorse type thing to get me back and forward to work.

My last job, which they shut down and made us all redundant was a 10 mile a day trip. As I use my Dodge Ram as my daily, 5.7ltr Hemi it wasnt that bad.

A gallon a day took care of the work run !

However, start a new job next Monday and its a 65 mile round trip !! Do the maths !:crying:

Looking for a cheapo runaround, but would need a kinda medium type size car, ie,

Vectra, Mondeo etc. Had a few Vectras, but never a diesel.

Any recommendations ?? Heres the tricky bit !

Budget is limited ! Can stretch to £2000, maybe a few quid more if its a good un. Fire away troops.

pity your so big, im after a 51 ish plate clio dci, my mate was getting about 90 miles to a tenner and about £60 for a years rip off-sorry i mean tax lol

nowt on the salvage front on ebay? Audi diesel BMW diesel and so forth

my mate had a 320d BMW and it was good on jip and was quite quick when ya wanted it to be, it was an 04

one of these you want,http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2001-BMW-330D-SE-BLUE-/200572213027?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item2eb3091723

one of the best diesel engines out there, can get 60mpg on the run, really good build quality and silent on the move and sound meaty when you give it some.

We have just bought the msport one 204hp and 300lb-ft and it would waste our old supra

Read some reviews on them there fantastic machines

Snap kind off lol!!!

In addition to the Zed, we have a Megane 1.9dci turbo diesel as a family car. It's comfortable with a pretty good ride and quite happily does 45+ to the gallon on a run and 40 on short journeys. It's a 2004 and we bought it for £3000 about a year ago. They seem to be readily available and I guess now priced around your budget. Best of luck.

Snap kind off lol!!!

thats what my mate had but in black, very nice motor and got me interested in the M3 as it hasnt got the hatefull driving postition of the older E36

very nice motors

Ive just got a 2.4jtd alfa romeo, i do 60mile a day for work n it costs me only £40wk. Smart cars and luxury too. Pick a good one up on a 51plate for less than your budget.

Yeah ours is black lol!!! full msport pack tan leather and loads of carbon goodies and alloy around the switches to brighten up the inside and make it a bit more modern

Chipping it soon to 240hp and 340lb-ft and will do 60mpg, not bad yeah

I've got a Saab 9-5 3.0 v6 diesel for sale for a friend! Quite a few miles on it though, quick and fairly good on fuel.

Cheap diesel though... Mondeo St 2.2 diesel are meant to be fairly good! Vectra diesels are good, 1.9cdti motor is fairly flexible. I have the 120bhp version in my astra and its quick, economical and reliable.

I doubt you'll get something german that hasnt been to the moon for that kind of budget

I reckon my veccy estate is a fantastic car, 150bhp and I regularly get 57mpg in it. They are still a bit above your price range tho' mate

Try one bud, you wont be dissapointed.

Seems most people are stuck on bmw's, but imo there not a patch on the quality n looks of a nice alfa.

Mine is the 156jtd, comes with 140bhp and 300nm torque so got plenty of power. Cruises down motorway at a steady 80mph at only 2500rpm :-).

DO NOT get a Veccy diesel!-The wife has the 1.8 petrol for that reason! LOL!

"qaultiy and alfa's" should never be used in the same sentence unless that sentence includes the words "has no" lol

My 1.9cdti 150 is great.

Lol.

Ive had all sorts of cars, closest to the alfa was probably my audi a6 2.5tdi, and i gotta say even that wasnt a patch on the alfa. Didnt handle no where near as good and wasnt even close to as good on economy.
