Myself and a few mates were thinking of going for a little drive on Sunday for a nice country pub lunch. As they are mostly based around West London we thought Oxford (or somewhere that way) would be nice....can anyone recommend a pub suitable?

We are hoping to drive on some country roads too as amongst us are a Gallardo, 4s and myself...so it's as much about a nice enjoyable drive as the lunch itself!

I've been googling it but it's hard to tell from the info on the net so personal recommendations are what I'm looking for...

Thanks all

try Shabbington. I think its called the Old Fisherman (how many pubs can they have?)

Its just off the 418 which is a HOOOOOONNNNNEEEE of a road if you get a good run at it to Oxford. its also just two or so miles outside Thame which has fat twisties all around it. My personal Bike fave ( so some slow hairpin-esque corners)is Thame to Stadhampton .. or.. Thame via Long Crendon to Islip. Stunning car ripper.

The Trout is pretty good (http://www.thetroutoxford.co.uk/)

It's just off the A34 so fairly easy to get to, although not sure on roads round Oxford...

Yeah, forgot about the trout, inspector morse was filmed there.

Service is pretty crap though, but nice setting etc..

Fat Duck in Bray (Heston Blumithals pub)

Tout is nice

The Fish (For food - Sutton Courtney near Abingdon)

The Bear in North Moreton

The Fox and Hound in Watlington

The Sweet Olive in Aston Tyrold

Red Lion in Brightwell

Or you could go somewhere like the Malmaison hotel in Oxford town, (old converted Prison - very trendy)

Lots of little country roads about the place. I thought you were coming up this way on Saturday not Sunday mate?

pablito you're not getting confused with me are you ? im the one going there saturday lol ! :D
