Hi all,

Have fiited an after market water temperature gauge and wired in illumination. Now need to do the sender bit. The thread of the sender is 1/8 NPT.

I'm guessing the block thread is 1/8 BSP or 1/8 BSPT? Can anyone confirm what it actually is please?

I want to keep my existing water temp sender so wish to tee piece out of the block to both gauge senders.

I just wired mine into the original sender so it works in tandem with the oem gauge.

Isn't there a calibration issue? The aftermarket gauge is calibrated to work with it's own sender

Yes mate as the stock gauge is a non linear gauge and the sender unit has it's resistive values that are pre set for different temps.

I personally favour re tapping the stock outlet which is easy being Alloy.

No need to keep stock and aftermarket together imo.

Hadn't noticed any problems so far, but I will be changing engines soon so I'll add in the gauges sender and connect it to that instead. personally I don't like having dead gauges so I want both to be working.

What brand of gauge have you got fella and what sorta readings you getting on most days?

Zogg, tbh that adapter is marketed for aftermarket gauges/senders so would hazard a guess it's thread is a more common NPT.

TBH can't really see anyone having previously removed ( for what ever reason) a stock sender to fit in an aftermarket holder further away from the existing one, so maybe ask snowleopard when he buys it so he can check.

it's a prosport one mate, the zed is sitting on my drive being rebuilt so not really used the gauge much but when the engines been running i've been getting readings of around 76deg ish. That said the oem is now much slower responding to temp than it used to be. I put this down to a resistance issue.

I had a little boss welded onto the top pipe , got it drilled and tapped , jobs a goodun , nice and neat :hyper:

Done loads of googling, but seems quite a hard thing to find as the size is generally not listed. Looks to me like its a 35mm hose with 38mm at the end that connects to the rad....can anyone confirm?

Looking at the adaptors they come in even number sizes 32mm 34mm 36mm etc. So I guess its a 34mm then?

wrong size quoted

The pipe is a different diameter at each end bud , not sure of the sizes though .
