Hi there ! been part of the forum for a long time ,

I was however kind of a pussy compared to your Z's I was driving a 200sx at the time. :wheelchair:

I have owned a grey 200sx and my second one was metallic black pearl.

Not going into detail as I have closed that chapter and had to sell them being hart broken afterwards :crying: , I was only 19 at the time and did not have cash money . Now we are doing better not great tho :cool3:

Now 25 years old

Current status : I drive an alfa romeo 156 jtd 1.9 :smartass: and to get my freak on I drive a cbr 600rr 2003 fireblade.

And I can not get the idea of owning a 300zx out of my head, I'm going quit insane over here.

And here I actually come down to the point:

Been searching for the last 3 years and I found one witch blows my mind but because I am flying quit high not thinking straight I would really deeply appreciate your opinions.

Here we go:

"Sale due to practical reasons.

We need some repairs done.

A turbo must be replaced and the brake discs must be

replacement.

The car In 2010 still passed the belgium inspection.

Correctly and serviced with new tires.

This was just before damage to the turbo.

From that problems were noticed, we didn't drive it anymore

First owner.

Specifications:

Nissan 300ZX 3.0 V6 Twin Turbo

Km-stand: 110.454 km

Bouwjaar: mei 1990

Brandstof: benzine

Vermogen: 208 kW

Prijs: € 5.000"

Please what do I have to watch out for ? what about the price ?

Leather interior and paint job :punk:

Sounds good for 5 euros

thanks for your quick reply , appreciated.

Sounds good for 5 euros

... but not for 5000

For 5000 the car should be working - with no problems and great condition.

Prices are higher on the mainland, so difficult to compare really.

Over here, 5000 gets you a really good example.

mileage (kilometres) looks about right, but turbos should last that long - so could indicate its not been looked after very well..

If you've waited 3 years, I'd wait another couple of months and find something that doesn't need any repair work. Turbos are quite costly to replace and could possibly have caused damage to the cylinder head. Walk away.. Unless they fix it at their cost first..

Thanks for all the replies,

This is the only 300zx I found with low mileage and good looking black exterior in the past 3 years.

Also very important ,the steering wheel is on the left side.

If I would import a car this would cause problems as they are all right side steering.

BUT as stated I can not take the risk having a busted engine, the reason why I thought it was attractive was the low mileage and first owner offcourse.

My guess was replacing the turbos and brake rotors for about 2500dollar +-(2000 euro) in parts , and do the work myself with a friend.

Anyhow thanks for putting me back on the ground ,I was floating away with joy but understand it is more sensible to wait.

We cant really comment on the price - The 300zx is a lot rarer and more expensive to buy in mainland europe than it is here in the UK.

What you need to consider is the price to repair vs typicaly market price in Europe. The problem is that the seller advises Turbo replacement......most likely Smoke issues - which makes it hard to diagnose the condition of the engine. I would suggest having the engine compression checked when you view the car.

Perhaps speak to European Z specialists DTA Motorsport, based in the netherlands http://dta-motorsport.com/ , for best and worse case scenario in regards to repair cost.

Standard Turbo reconditioning would cost you around € 1000 per pair , from UK turbo specialists. Labour wise, your looking at Engine removal which can be a daunting task on the 300zx, even for experienced mechanics, when not used to the Z setup.

The good thing is there is plenty of knowledge both here and elsewhere on the net if you run into any troubles and need advice.

Thanks allot for the info , checking out the site.

After your replies I started thinking , Is it not wiser to buy a complete low mileage (50

000 km)engine with turbos for 2500 euro from respectable DTA Motorsport , and try to find a car for 2500 euro.

This seems a safer way to go or not?

Then you have the cost of changing the engines on top of that, probably another 1500 euro or more, plus your left with an engine with a broken turbo which you wont be able to get rid of.

I'd just keep looking, maybe look for one that is mechanically sound, but needs a little cosmetic work??
