This is great news guys but our oil is the cheapest in Europe !!!!! Before tax so it don't matter how cheap it is to make they will tax it to the max!!!!

as with anything like this if it is ever made available the government ,whoever it is at the time would tax it to the limit to take all the benefits away from us . more likely the major oil producers would buy the idea for an obscene amount of money and shelve it to protect their industry . this happened a few years back when a new type of battery was created that massively outlasted the life span of normal batteries . the technology was bought and shelved .

in the current climate this is the ultimate 'win' - hopefully it will shut the environ-mentalists up, is cheaper, cleaner, doesn't require engine modifications to use, and in theory is an unlimited supply. but yeah, the point is how can the government justify hefty tax on it? surely they'll want to promote it and encourage people to use it.

I wonder what equivalent RON it will be and how it will affect engines performance-wise...

If it has 3 times more energy than petrol per gram, then obviously, you only need 1/3 the amount of it. So I'm guessing ECU's would need changing, cos otherwise you're gonna have an explosion 3 times more powerful trying to seperate block and head. On a turbo engine this would likely result in a terminal failure of some nature. So obviously it needs work, but looks good so far.

I'm not convinced when they ramp production up to crude oil levels of production, just how green it would be. But that's another problem. At least I could suck on my exhaust without feeling

I saw this in the Sunday papers - looks like another breakthrough for British scientists!!

Yup - it does seem like a "win win" situation; but alas it won't please the environmentalists. They are just a miserable lot of doom-mongers who will not be happy until we all stop having any kind of fun; give up all of our posessions and move back into caves like we did a long time ago:tt2:

......And before then, the government (who ever that may be) will probably use "reducing congestion" as a way of taxing it. After all, they use the environment as an excuse now (hence traffic congestion has slipped off their radar); but once the emmissions issue can no longer hold water, they'll be back on reducing traffic.....:sneaky2:

Richard:oops:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:
