Hi Jane,

I haven't had any experience with them; although I hear they are not bad cars but I reckon you could buy something better for the money.

Plus IIRC the turbo model was only available as an import. In my humble opinion I would prefer not to buy any import if it's a car that was never marketed here in domestic form.

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Thanks all, still struggling to find something that fits my fun/fast/not too thirsty criteria within my fairly limited budget.

I must confess the 0-60 time of 6.9 seconds in a Glanza caught my interest lol!

Have you gone off zeds now

Hell no! But I'm about to go back to uni to do my nurse training so hence I solf Zedward to Marty, put some money aside and now need a cheap but fun daily driver to get me to placements etc. I did have a Toyota Corolla for about 6 weeks which was hateful so I sold it last week. Now I am carless and on the look out!

These are fun!..I had one afew years ago, this is how she looked before i sold it..

Cheers Rob, its almost the same reg no as the one I posted above! Anything in particular to look out for on these? To my mind, this is cheap for a Glanza so already I am suspicious. Its not too far from me tho so I might go to see it this week. Out of interest, who were you insured with? I know a lot of people insure them as a 1.3 Starlet, as the insurance companies don't recognize them

Cheers

Jane

It was 4 weeks longer than we had our Micra! That was just pure dog sh1t!!

I hope I find the right car too, filling the Zedward sized hole is proving nigh on impossible

Lol at your Volvo, they just remind me of Margot and Jerry from The Good Life lol

Touch wood, I had no problems with mine in the 2 years i owned it, and I was the first UK owner but a common thing to look out for on these is the manifolds cracking, usually on the '3rd runner' as they say. Also they tend to 'overboost' a fair bit as these have a high and low boost setting as standard and the only way really to get around this is to install an EBC and actuator and then set the boost using the EBC. Apart from that they are pretty bullet proof.

As for the price, it does seem very cheap, but maybe he just wants a quick sale for the genuine reason that he says in his for sale advert. Go and take it for a spin and see what you think,i wouldnt expect to be blown away though as it looks pretty much stock apart from the exterior mods he's listed.

IIRC i was insured with Adrian flux and i wasnt paying big bucks either, but yes you are right, not many companies do recognise them hense why most will insure them as a 1.3 starlet.

There is a couple of forums for these with loads of FAQ's etc:

Thanks, thats really helpful. Its an auto which I've never driven before, never really understood automatics but I guess I could try. Spoke to the seller, he seemed genuine, but he's only had the car 4 months, selling due to getting a Civic he says. Will just see

cheers

Ive never been keen on Auto's either, mine was a manual so cant really comment on what the auto gearboxes are like.

Shame there is no engine bay pic of the car, would be interested to see if he has removed the heatshield from the manifold so if you do view the car you could see IF there is any crack,or any signs of it starting to.

Let us know how you get on.

How does that look?

Looks pretty tidy tbh..the heat sheild has been removed on that, but i forgot how much the stock intercooler piping covers up the mani lol. You should still be able to get a good look at it though and be able to see if there is any cracks/hairline cracks in it.

It all looks in good nick so at a guess, fingers crossed,it might be alright. Worth checking though if you can as it just causes annoying problems.

Just behind the IC piping:

Brill, cheers Rob. The seller is on nights this week, not sure when I'll get to see the car but hopefully this week.
