I think this is possibly aimed more at the guys on here who have made custom sub boxes in the past...

...I got a Kenwood KFC WS303 12" small enclosure sub off the forum a while back. Just tested it and it does produce sound (which is good as it was free!). Now...I need a sub box and have googled around and I should be able to get one off the internet but was thinking, it would be much much better to have an enclosure that sat well in the Zed's boot, or even better....if I were to remove the spare wheel...in the area left behind??

http://www.carreview.com/cat/car-audio/subwoofers/kenwood/PRD_50752_1808crx.aspx

So my questions:

1. For a sub like this, is the spare tyre well even a possibility?

2. Would anyone care to make a custom box for me?? :whistling:

I would love to have a go at making my own but lack of tools and space (and time) mean I can't. Obviously I'd be willing to pay for it.

So...any takers?

Will start making custom boxes soon, but the way things are going will be march time.

if you are going to the zedworld bash have a look at mine and see what you think

Took my car to a renowned local guy earlier today. He said why am I bothering with twin 8's? Just sink a 12 where the spare should be!!!! Live and learn :confused1:

This is all in aid of a trip to France I'm planning for April so March would be fine if you were keen? How long would something like this take? I imagine you'd need me to send you dimensions, etc and locations for wiring?? Also I guess some idea of where it needs to go in the boot/spare wheel well?

Would be happy to discuss...

Is this any good to you?-Alpine 500 watt apparently!

Pic from the sale thread.

Also have a 150 watt amp that I won't be using (too old!) in the pic as well.

I assume you're referring to the sub and box combo? As I've got a sub already I think that should be enough for now. As for the amp...I think I will need one but not sure what/which one as I know nothing! lol...I'll try and have a read on it all and see what my needs are and get back to you?

If you could PM me a price though would certainly help.

Cheers bud

WOW! Are they working? lol...I wasn't looking to spend too much money on this setup as it's just a stop gap but your offer is sweet! :walkman:

Only problem is...I can't make Jeff's bash

I'd be more than happy to paypal you something if you want though?? In which case let me know if the amp is inc on the offer?

Cheers bud!

Not bothered about the Sub but would want something for the Amp,untested tho' since Iv'e had the car.

If you want the sub and box,it's yours but you need to p/up or arrange delivery etc as my work means I haven't the time!:sweatdrop:

Cool. Would you be able to check the amp at all? No massive rush.

As for the sub and box, I'm down in London so can't pickup but am happy to arrange a pickup from you if that's cool? Do you want to pm me your addy and when would be good for you? Say end of this week/week after next?

Cheers

yes mate i,ll be there . still fiddling with mine but getting there . the thing with zeds is the shape and lack of internal air space which is needed to feed the speekers . often the best way to go is to tone down the system to allow it to work properly . for example , smaller subs work more efficently and therefor produce better sound in the tight space . its all trial and error but would be glad to have a look daffy . also speekers need to be run for a while to condition the rubber before final adjustments .

Nice one, I wired up my new amp this weekend but just to my component fronts and one of my 8" subs, need to get the other one wired in too then try and sort it. Guess it's trial and error, but a little knowledge might help. I'm clueless!! I'll try and run them in before the bash, my fronts sound better by the day whereas my subs are brand new. Cheers mate.

YHPM!.

Not sure if this is right, but hey..........

I ditched my space saver wheel, and put down hard board, with ice on top. Then i got myself the holts tyreweld. If i wasted a tyre, then the AA will bring me home. Simple puncture, then tyreweld gets me home.

HTH.......

Thanks bud...I figured I may as well ditch the spare tyre as it wouldn't fit over my calipers anyways ( i think!). Besides...my car is too low to drive with the spare on anyways! lol...

Tyreweld is a good idea though..didn't think of that.

Did you not stick anything else in the well then to reduce distortion/rattles, etc...?? Do you have any pics/writeups?

Cheers dude

Same here buddy, spare wheel no fit over calipers.....lol

Nothing in the wheel well matey, apart from some silica gel to aid from the dredded condensation in the cold months.

No write ups, sorry dude, only a pic of my install............... please remember the only reason i made this box was for 2 reasons. 1st... i needed to get my golf clubs in the boot, did not want to tarnish my newly refurbed rear seats. 2nd.... I wanted the speakers angled toward the front for better deflection of sound from the hatchback, and quality of sound for me. I know it looks alittle shite, but it sounds awesome when in car!!!

Check my ride for speaker and amp spec....

Blaady hell that's mahoosive! lol..and you can stil get your golf clubs in there??

I thought you meant you stuck the sub IN the well itself which is what I was thinking of...not sure if it's even possible. Do you not get any reverberations from the empty well then? I would have thought with the subs pounding there might be some?

Cheers for the pics though...off to your rides to check out the specs now!
