more PTU questions...

I've just removed the PTU to see if I can check it out.

Have I got the old or new type (after recall) unit?

Here's whats on it:

22020 58S11

TSTR IGN UNIT

MITSUBISHI

J126 2301

The connectors are really mucky but would this cause it to run until warm then start stuttering and stall after a few backfires?

It did this when hot the other day and I had hoped all would be OK after cooling off but started her up from cold today and it ran until warm - about 10 or 15 mins and then cut out just the same. Looks like a permanent fault now.

My Z is a Jap import...

Chris,

If your unit is the big black mofo with a metal front and fins on it, it's the old one.

If it's a smaller unit (much smaller), with adapters to turn the old style plugs into smaller ones, it's the new unit.

Tis that easy..

Yeah definately the old one - thought they would look the same just different part number.

I could do with swapping one over to test before throwing more cash down the Z drain...

If I know for certain it's faulty I might pull it to bits or send it to Andy"PTU" to fix.

Is that price from Courtesy in US?

Is there just one part or do I need a Jap/Euro part number?
