Mystery Connector

Can anybody identify this connector and tell me where it should go. It has a black/red and blue/white wire going into it.

I have just had an engine re-build and think they may have left something off because it is very clean inside.

Thats the connector which goes to the stock boost control solenoid on the passenger side - you might be able to see it, it's a cylinder shaped affair, will be just under the black hard pipe coming off the turbo..

If you're running a boost controller then it wont be connected up.. If not, you'll be stuck in safety boost on that turbo!

Thanks for the reply.

Looked all over from the top but could find nothing. Looks like a jack the car up and get underneath job.

so you're not running a boost controller then ?

in that also check the other side too...

the other part of the connector should be attached to a bracket, which is tucked away under all those wires and the plenum,

if not, then it will be dangling down quite low towards the turbo, and is a "skinny arm" job at best...

No boost controller that I know of but I've only had the car for a few day's.

Just discovered a K&N air filter today.

At the risk of sounding really stupid, how can I tell if there is a boost controller? There are no boxes fitted into the dash but it is still managing around 10-12psi under full throttle even with that cable disconnected.

in that case steve, i would check your ecu to see if has been upgraded or something....

you might have boost jets installed into the vacuum lines to increase boost

it might have a sticker or something on the ecu saying (horror)superchips, jwt, or do SE put stickers on ?

do you have any twist adjustable valve type things in any of the pipes ?

cant find any suitable pics at the moment...

Craig - There are no stickers on the ecu and no adjusters that I can see. Not sure about boost jets though I will check tomorrow.

The car has had mods fitted by a previous owner but nothing in the service history.

I have just had another look at the car and have discovered that the boost controllers on both sides have been disconnected and the rubber pipes coming out have been blanked off. It seems that SE has done a boost upgrade (12psi) which is fine, but without a boost controller can someone explain exactly how it works?

What is the chance that someone ripped out the boost controller before they sold it to you ?

I don’t think thats the case as I'm sure SE would have said if it needed one. The conversions are brand new, nice shiny bolts blanking the pipes and spotlessly clean inside the connectors. Like I said it’s managing 12psi, which it never did before it went in for the rebuild.

Hmmm, interesting. I suggest you call SE for the correct explanation then.
