Just wondered if anyone has one and how you've found it? I'm considering it for my first smartphone.

Have one for work and it's a pain in the ass TBH, have an iphone as a personal one and prefer that much more.

Yeh , I`ve got one and love it, there are a few annoying software problems with it but overall its great and a software update will probably solve the teething problems, camera is spot on, internet is fast and battery lasts fine, My girlfriend has the desire hd, 8mp camera and bigger screen, but its too big for my liking, If you get a smart phone you will wonder how you got by before

I have the HTC Wildfire and love it, there are a couple of little niggles, but I think you would get that on any phone, they can't make them perfect for everyone..........

Anthony, why have you found it a pain?

I saw the HD but battery life was about half of the desire so kinda rules that out for me.

I'm thinking of either the HTC Desire or Iphone4

iPhone definitely, imho. I've had HTC HD, couple of Samsung touchscreens and used several others, Sony etc but nothing compares to the feel of the iPhone. Also iPhone has most choice of apps and I think simply looks the best too.

The touch scrolling isn't great and annoying, my phone 3gs is much better. Functions are ok but can't get on with the scrolling

Totally agree - the iphone just works so well. Pepole seem to hate apple for some reason but after using one for so long its hard to think I would ever switch to anything else now!

I saw my mate's Iphone4 today and was impressed by the speed. Gonna pop up to carphone warehouse and compare them :)

my wife has a htc desire and she's only had it for about 6 months or 5 and the touchscreen is already messed up .. dont really recommend it tbh, quite complicated too .

I got the desire hd last week, and its bloody amazing, everything is so smooth and fast,no lag when you change to another screen, battery life isnt that bad,it seems the same as my hero, all depends how u use it..

done an experiment yesterday, just using it as a phone,no 3g no wifi on,,the battery went from 100% down to 96% in 5 hours,,obviousley when you start using all the apps, which u will it will burn quicker.

another positive for me is its on 2.2 android which gives you full 10.1 flash, and it has a 4.3 inch screen, though you dont notice the size when its in your hand.

i also bought a battery dock for it,which also had a spare battery,,i know people will say the iphone is the phone to have, but i love android and this phone is the best android yet.

my daughter has a htc desire its good but when compared to my iphone it loses but its a good phone, my daughter does wish she had the iphone now though, so does my bro who went for the SE X10 and now its broken. i do think HTC are the company to watch cause IMO they will leave the others behind

Well I've always had a phone to use as a phone, I still love my Nokia 6600 fold but I would just like the internet mainly for price matching while I'm out and about.

I mainly text cos it's just easier, I have a digital camera so only use the phone one for quick snaps. Got an MP3 player which I use in the car mainly so not that bothered about MP3 on my phone.

Just went to carphone warehouse and leaning towards the HTC Desire. The Iphone is pretty high to buy/monthly contract. The Nexus is just plasticy, it's made by Samsung and apparently that's how all their phones are. The Desire has a nice comfortable grippy feel to it which is something my mate with the Iphone4 mentioned - that's it constantly slides off everything so he expects a smashed screen at some point.

Also heard that the signal isn't as good on the Iphone.

the high price is why my bro went for the SE X10 over the iphone, as for breaking i have dropped my iphone4 loads of times and its not broken. i drove over my iphone 3g and it still worked (brother in law has it now). as for the signal i live out in the sticks so signal is low to nothing in places and the iphone 4 isn't as good as my 3g was, its not far behind but deffo not as good and the thing where you cover both bottom corners and you lose your signal is a big balls up on apples behalf but i haven't had this issue with the way i hold my phone anyway. I doubt you would be unimpressed with the HTC it is a good phone and the issues my daughter has are camera not as good as mine and putting music on isn't as easy (so she has conned me into getting her an ipod:glare:) and thats probably about it really so if none of the above concern you happy shopping:clap:

Totally agree. It's going to be my next phone when I get another free one in June.

i got the htc desire too best phone i ever had imho does everything only gripe is battrey life but im on it all day long, make sure you update the software and it should be fine

If you were using for internet,go for the htc hd desire,,it has a 4.3 inch screen,,i havent used my laptop in a week!

As for signal,,it seems alot better than my hero,,it could still cost £30 a month, though im sure carphone warehouse were doing an online deal for £25...this is a few days old now,so u may have already picked up a phone.

Got the phone (finally after they delivered it to someone else - almost twice!). Now I've no idea what I'm doing with it lol

i know wat u mean,,theres so many apps,,but android is a great platform,,get the battery widget from the market, this will help with battery life, theres also juice defender which will help with battery life.

,another good one is data counter,,shows u how much data youve dloaded, via 3g or wi-fi.

app2sd is good to,,,send all your apps to sd card instead of inbuilt memory,,though not all apps will move..

if u like listning to internet radio, then tune in radio is awesome.

for footy scores use soccer livescores,,

was it the normal desire or hd desire you got?
