Hey guys, before say anything else. . . . Happy new year to you all!

I've been meaning to upgrade to some brighter headlights for ages! Can somone please tell me where I can find maybe 4000k? ? ? The Z originals are about the same as three candles, & now one has popped it's give me a kick up the back side to sort it out!

Thanks buddy, I'll check it out!

£40??? since when??

I recall mine being I think £99 from DTA? Good piece of kit though...but I do need to clean my headlights out as still not quite bright enough!

no reason to go for 55w specifically, 35w is spot on and is what everyone has been fitting for years, the brightness increase is amazing with properly cleaned healights.

55w will offer a brighter output but at the cost of more reflective glare and washout, and 35w is more than bright enough.

Anything in the 4000-6000k range.

I went from 55w to 35w cannot remember why but the 35w is no where near as good as 55w,

If anything 35w isnt that much better than stock

Nearly all of us HID users will be running 35w. The 55w HID's is relatively new to the market and is something these chinese/HK sellers have been busy selling.

If you found 35w barely much better than stock then there is something very wrong. The upgrade is astonishing and gives you headlights easy as good as or better than modern car headlights.

I had 55w in before i ever heard of 35w and that was about 3 years back

35w are pants and nothing compaired to the 55w. I even had 35w hids in the supra and they gave off worse light that stock bulbs

They just dont project enough, yes they are bright for a few feet but they just dont project. where as the 55w are amazing.

Dan sells the 55w and not the cheap arse 35W, for a good kit you need to spend about £100, ebay ones at £30/£40 are :xxx: and you get what you pay for

ah, I may have got my wires crossed based on what you've just said. I was under the assumption that Dan's kits were 35w and every kit for the past 5 years has been 35w, with 55w being relatively new to the market. Up until the last 6 months or so nobody ever made any reference to there being different wattage options....perhaps its 35w thats the newer option ?

I cant check mine as they are fitted underneath the headlights, but if thats the case then ignore everything I have said.

Yeah if you got yours of Dan then 99% sure they will be 55w which are amazing :cool3:

I think the 35w are more for looks than anything. they light up signs and cats eyes well just not the road

Very true. iv fitted HID kits to all my cars and some of them just aint much brighter than stock. Some look very bright for the first few feet but just dont project the same beam far enough. i remember stepping in to another car with standard lights after using mine and thought "damn these almost project like xenons but are yellow" buts its i had gotten so used to the poor projection of mine and others.

55w ones are better but it needs to be a decent ballast otherwise what u get on startup is your lights looking like they are barely on and only warming up to an "acceptable" brightness.

A 35w Philips ballast is gonna be much better than any Chinese so called 55w ballast.

lol i thought that was only me.....

In the rain was just a joke aswell

Hi all!

Just chiming in as my name has been mentioned ;)

I have been selling HID kits to the membership of this forum and many others for over 5 years now. 99.9% of the kits I've sold have been 35W/6000K kits and if installed into a cleaned headlight enclosure should project light further and much brighter than the standard 55W halogen bulbs. To date I've not had any complaints about the 35W kits, in fact most customers have commented how much of a difference the kit has made.

55W HID kits became readily available about a year and a half ago and I have sold a few since then. Whereas the 35W kit is approximately 300% brighter than the standard halogen system, the 55W HID kits are another 200% brighter than the 35W kits. However, as Legrath pointed out, due to the increased brightness there is more washout of the light as it passes through the projector lens and then the headlight glass. Although I always advocate that customers clean the inside of their headlights before installing HID kits, the truth is that many can't be bothered. The result is excessive scattering of the light which (a) limits the projection length, (b) influences the cut-off lines of the light and © may cause oncoming traffic to be dazzled.

Since a couple of months, there are a number of Chineese manufacturers who are selling 75W HID kits (!) Althought they will be even brighter than the 55W kits I would strongly recommend against installing these because the kit will just emphasise the problems as mentioned above.

In my opinion, which is based on running a 35W kit in my own Z32 for over 3 years and feedback from hundreds of happy customers, our 35W HID kit is the best upgrade for your car provided that you ensure the inside of the projector lens and headlight glass are spotless. You will also need to realign the headlights to ensure the beam is projected correctly and not too high/low.

Our kits are probably one of the best quality kits on the market. I have personally tested dozens of components to put together this kit with the best quality parts. I did this in conjunction with the UK's biggest HID reseller and they continue to sell the exact same kit as ours.

The 35W kit is priced at £99.00 including delivery and comes with a full 1 year warranty on both the ballasts as well as the bulbs (something you won't get from any foreign ordered HID kit). I'm based in the UK so you have a "local" point of contact should you require any information or replacement parts.

FYI: for your Z32 you'll need a H3 kit for the dip beam (applicable to both UK-spec and JDM-spec cars). It is not advisable to upgrade your high beam.

I hope the above information has been of some use to you. If anyone has any questions please feel free to contact me on info@dta-motorsport.co.uk or via PM.

All the best!

ok, thanks for clarifying Dan. It was as I first thought - 35W FTW, which is what most of us will have fitted and have been reccomending for years.

I could not be happier with the 35w 6000k kit I have fitted, with stripped and cleaned headlights.

Maybe they were 35 watt than :confused1:

Thats how mine use to look. Then for some reason i fitted 35w ebay ones to the zed, supra and my coupe. and tbh they are dangerous.

But when i had Dans in they looked just like above which made me think they were 55w if you know what i mean :lol:

I will be buying a new set off Dan soon and throwing the ebay ones in the bin,

This brings back some scary memories - I'd forgotten how bad the standard headlamps on a Z can be! I used to hate the winter months when it got dark early.
