I finaly got a quote to get rid of my grey tweed, its just the dash doors, centre and rear quarters (no seats) in red leather, he thinks about £750 all in, thinks it'll take 3 days, but he can't fit me in till the back end of Febuary.

Seen as though i have never had a car retrimed before i have no idea if this is a reasonable price. so if anyone has had it done would you mind sharing prices?

Chears.

Honestly mate, i would give it a go yourself, for about £40 with materials. If you mess it up then you havent lost much, i think thats a bit ott for just the panels and cards, obviously you wouldnt be stitching anything, i assume your trimmer will be stitching leather and fitting it all?

i agree with groover mate, that seems a bit steep for 700 quid?! id give it a go too if i were you ,or search somewhere else for a second price,

he said parts would be stitched but the majority would be stuck on.

I thought about having ago myself but if you'd seen the state of my sub boxs you would see i'm not the man for the job. If i could get it on and looking ok i still don't think it would last longer than a week.

I know the place has a good rep, i've seen a few TVR's that have being done there and loads of motor bike seats. But I was assuming i could get the seats done aswell for the same price. his origional quote was going to be a little over £600, he thinks £200 for the materials, and just over £400 labour then V.A.T, with the new 20% thats what realy tips the mark.

MMMM £200 for what materials? You can get a full leather hide for less than £50 on ebay and might cost about £30 in evo stick contact adhesive, it can take a few hours to get the old tweed and glue off, use the old cloth as a template. The trickiest parts are the door cards and rear panels next to the seat.

I totally understand what your saying and he will probably do a great job, i would shop around for a few quotes, but if you can afford it and your mind is made up then go for it.

Just remember you can buy the whole interior leather panels already stitched from the zcentre for £300 +vat

That Z centre is a good point, for some reason i thought i'd seen them a lot more expensive than that. i've seen a few pictures of DIY jobs, and they do look really good. i supose i've got a month or so to decide. The colour match is a major factor, i need to get it as close as possible to my existing seats.

Ste, they're having your eyes out mate. There's a place in Stockton that'll do it cheaper than that - but seriously, get the stuff from Zed centre. Its a good excuse to go to the Zed party eh?!

That is about right I would say, I paid £1000 to retrim my SWB over 6 years ago

was that including the seats. i suppose the only real difference from the SWB is the rear quarters.

wheres Flory's? is Phill Bacon a business or just a guy? the real problem is that it would have to be a regestered toad fitter, the remote engine start would have to be fitted to the alarms ecu so that the imobiliser could be bypassed and the doors still stay locked.

toyota corolla - either mate, can get my mechanic to supply possibly

cheers bud

Flory's is by the Cineword cinema in town and Phil Bacon is a registered business

Youd prob need to drive up here to get the quotes but you could come up in one day and get quotes from all the ones up here. they're all about 4 miles from each other and i'm sure you could save a bundle on the price you've got there.
