Just stumbled across this (quote):

Throttle body modification:

The throttle body modification isn’t going to be the biggest gain in hp in the world, but the best part is, it’s FREE! In case you missed that, yes, its completely free! All you need for this modification is a metal file or a 10mm wrench (depending on what year 300zx). All you have to do is simply remove a nut or a bump of molded aluminum that is sitting right by your throttle cable. This bump or nut is preventing your throttle from being able to open completely. By allowing it to open completely you’ve increased your air flow which increases your horse power.

Is this true/worthwhile?

Seen this on Robo's site, I imagne it would only really be effective with high boost?

There is a stop point on the plenum for the throttle linkage, on UK cars its a solid block on Jap spec cars it has an adjustable stop.

Rather than file the block just bend up the metal tang that hits the stop! however if the throttle opens too wide it may well be past the best position, there was a rumour that Jap spec cars had adjustable ones` so they could limit the thottle wide open amount and hence keep the BHP output under the agreed level in Japan.

Interesting stuff. So should i leave well alone? Not that i'd actually touch anything myself, but it could be worth doing?

there is also an argument that it doesn't open fully for a reason (it is only a very small amount that you can adjust anyway) because of the shape of the inside of the plenum, it is already set at the optimal angle, and adjusting so that it opens fully could well have the opposite effect you desire....

Have a read of this mate and make your own mind up....

Think i'll leave well alone. Tudor that site is well good, worth asking just for that. Nice one.

Used his site for loads of guides for loads of jobs, saved in favourites!

Dont bother, its not a mod. I've wrote about this before, its positioned that way due to the intake pipe angle into the throttle bodies. We've even had a member test it back to back on dyno and seen a power loss with it done.

No probs mate! Some good reading on there...
