Pretty sure bmw never made a clk LOL! :smartass:

Seriously tho - the CLK's are pretty good apart from corrosion - if you do go to look at one check all 4 wheel arches & around the boot lock.

Mechanically they are pretty good if looked after.

If you want any specific info on a car then let me know the VIN & I can check history etc for you :)

hi paul need some info on my SL500 Nav Question

could you email me julie.alack@virgin.net from an old respected member

Get the Bmw if you prefer a better built, higher quality car aimed more at the performance driver with superb handling and a top notch powerfull silky smooth straight 6 engine.

Get the Merc if you dont.

:lol::lol::lol:

I love Mercs and would always recommend them, however please be advised that almost all Merc between 1999 and 2001 have serious rust problems. We're talking 1970s Fiat type rust here.

The E-class and CLK (same car) are the worst offenders.

Mechanically brilliant though.

I loved my 2000 E280 and was still faultless at 179,000 miles until it was written off...

LOL - not anywhere the same as how bad Fiats were! I know, I worked for Lancia in the 80's!

oh, & the CLK is based on the W202 C Class not the W210 E class :smartass:

They can be quite bad I agree!!

Please tell me more before I go lumping a load of dosh into one

The early CLK (208) was based on the early C Class (202) running gear.

The newer CLK (209) is based on the later C Class (203)

Later ones are much better ;)

so dont go for a 208 shape then LOL

Bit old hat now mate - handling is not too great & as said earlier corrosion is an issue on the 208.

209's are much better, especially the later facelift ones. Suspensions a bit of a weak point so if youre looking at one get it up in the air to check springs, bushes, ball joints etc

Give us a shout if you are looking at one & will give you a check list LOL!

I will be looking around in the spring/summer no rush on this just when the right one comes along

Thanks for the offer of the check list, it will be some time yet, I fancy the 55 AMG, as I have a van for all the donkey stuff so wont drive it that much.
