it makes all the blasting sound just no warm air. any idea?

it's basically like a small radiator behind your dash that's plumbed into the engine cooling system. At the back of the engine are 2 water pipes that go through the bulkhead, are they hot to touch?

sorry mate only just came back to the thread but yes i would say check this first and check how vijay has said

thermostat might not be opening enough. Just change one yesterday on my mate S3 and job done, he has heat lol!!

Check you water level in the radiator, a low level will cause poor or no circulation through the matrix.

When it was really really cold a couple of weeks back, on my short trip to work the heater never got warm at all, I was freezing  of course I was concerned as I was watching the engine temp gauge go above where it usually sits :confused1:

I was glad to turn off and go in to work, a bit later when the day had warmed up to -4 :whistling: I went out to it.

I put a bit of readymix antifreeze in the top of the rad, not a great amount really and ran it, it did not get warm for ages it seemed, but all of a sudden I got heat and everything was ok then and since :cool3:

Wear a coat :shifty:

i do, its the missus thats cold, i was driving my convertable with the roof down on xmas day when it was about -2.

thanx for all the suggestions, will have a look in the morning

I've got the same problem but I found the other week when I had to take my engine apart and de-frost it that I also had air pockets in the system, which was rather upsetting because that could have caused some serious problems, I'll check the same two pipes I think in the morning.

is the zed like most cars and has a filter for the air intake on the heater?

If it does then check to see how blocked it is as we have had a lot of bad weather to clogg it up.

it's behind the dash mate. Did you feel the two pipes at the back of the engine?
