As the big day gets ever nearer (had our first false alarm on new years eve!) im thinking more about life with baby, and crikey its scary lol!

 

As far as the seats go though, i was wondering about converting the back seats, which are pretty useless for passengers really, as both the mrs and i are fairly tall, into a platform for a childs seat to be securely mounted in the centre. what would this involve do you think? i mean surely it will have to be safety tested by someone?

 

i was thikning something along the lines of seat in the middle and soe storage space either side. but any thoughts, ideas, suggestions or more importantly warnings lol would be greatly appreciated

I would leave as is mate, do you have three point belts in the back or just the lap ones?

i managed to get a baby seat in the back of mine and used the base that the seat clicks into, the only problem i had is the front seat has to be pushed forward and since it was my seat it didnt make for the most comfortable driving position

Other than what's been said, i don't think you should be putting a child/baby seat in the middle, behind the otehr seats where possible.

why not make a small base that fits snug into the seat bottom. Have seen one done before. A plastic liner(black bag) is placed into cup of seat and then fill with expanding foam to fill it level. When set remove from seat and trim the top flat.

After that it can be fibreglassed around your mould and sanded smooth, then glue some foam on top for cushening and then wrap it with some material to make it look tidy.

Once in place a child seat will fit on the seat just as it would a standard seat and can be safely strapped in with the seatbelt.

the child seats do fit in the rear and in front as no airbag but as ive found out had to get another car also as so much stuff to take on journeys and very cramped+as rear faceing seat in front and the way belt is you cant open pass door pain.
