Julia and I are off to Cornwall next Thursday - at least I thought we were.

When leaving the hotel last January, I booked a week in June and another 5 days from 30th December. I double checked next week's booking when paying my bill in June and all was well.

But tonight, I gave the hotel a call to see it we could arrive a day early as Julia is also off next week, only to find they have somehow lost my reservation:angry:

Apparently the hotel is now full as they "changed their computer system" recently and since my booking was not also supported by a written record it did not get carried over so they've booked my room to someone else. To say I'm extremely angry is an understatement; we've visited the same hotel twice a year for a number of years and spend thousands there each year. And as we're regulars we always booked on mutual trust - ie no deposit from me.

Plus I was suppposed to be getting a call back this evening - I called before 7 - yet still I have heard nothing. Poor customer service; especially considering the hotel changes hands early next year. I reckon the new owners would not be happy about losing a big spending regular customer:cursing:

Now I guess I have to trawl the internet tomorrow and look for a suitable alternative. At short notice. Over a peak holiday.

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

All sorted now. I managed to find another hotel for the main New Year period and then booked the last 3 nights in Boscastle as usual - with a nice discount.:sweatdrop:

you should come visit ludlow, i think we are full now though over new year

Hmmm, Ludlow?

It's been a long while since we were last there (stayed at The Feathers last time); so maybe for our March trip! Please can I have details of your hotel mate?

Cheers,

Very nice mate - that looks just my kind of hotel!!

We will definitely be visiting you in 2011; whether it's March or late-November. Last time we visited Ludlow there was a mediaeval Christmas festival going on in the castle.

I've added your page to my favourites and I'll be in touch!

Thanks for the link,
