SE Engine rebuilds and not a war please, oh go on then!

Right, I've got some spare dosh (wifes stopped buying £150 nails and haircuts) if I decide to go for a rebuild, UK Auto 100K, who should I go too. Bearing in mind I'm in Surrey its looks like SE or does anybody know of work done by Abbey Motorsport (Skylark specialists) I'm sure I remember someone going there for the same?

Any rough guides on cost with turbos!!

use SE. Abbey would be great if you had a skyline.

Why do you need a rebuild? Is there a specific problem? 100k miles is not necessarily a problem if the engine's had good oil regularly.

Your auto box may need a recon about now. (consider converting to a manual - similarmoney to an auto recon)

You may need recon turbos (£400 each) if they're smoking (or upgrade (£600+ each) Se have a catalogue. ask themn to send you one. Which brings me to SE's problem Great engineers, but naff at the little things like returning calls and posting catalogues etc. Personally I can live without the little things if the work is good.

No it hasnt got any problems, just that the moneys there and the wifes looking at holiday brochures! So I was thinking go for it. Will go for up rated turbos etc. Abbey is very near to me thats all.

If it aint broken dont fix it, un less you are upgrading it. And even then it better to wait untill it brakes. Hehehe biggrin.gif

My car has close to 150,000 and it doesnt need a rebulid and never had one.

Save your money for a real emergancy.

Dude i would go for it - Take it to SE sure - they might take a while but haven't heard any bad things recently about the quality of their rebuild work.

As for not needing one 150K miles !! Jesus have you checked your compression figures ? -

I would severly doubt if

Not that that is the end of the world given a good balance these cars will still run very strong with lower compression.

I would make sure that inspect the turbochargers first as when they go you DO NEED them changed and they are a similar price - If you can afford both do them both ! if not get an inspection done and go from there.
