Ken, I use wonder wheels stuff... Not amazing but with the effort you can get your wheels right up to newish looking. Like I say a little effort is required but it does work...

CheerZ,

I use Auto Glym Alloy cleaner. Its very good, wet the wheels, spray it on, rub it in to the real dirty places leave for a minute then rinse.

You have to watch some of these cleaners if you have bolted split rims. I think the phosphoric acid can lead to corrosion in titanium bolt / ally joints.

The trouble with most of those cleaners is that you use them once and then you need them everytime. They seem to remove what remains of the laquer and then the wheels corrode rapidly.

I got my wheels powder coated in silver, it is fractionally shinier than the original finish, but the rears were done over two years ago and still look like new. Another advantage is you can wash them in about 10 seconds cause the brake dust doesn't stick.

I worked for an alloy wheel manufactures for a very short period of time (1.5 weeks) but they warned about using chemical alloy cleaners cos they can strip the laquer. Best to keep them clean using fairey liquid and warm water. A bit harder but safer in the end I believe.

I used wonder wheels for when they got bad. best is to clean regularly with ordinary car wash before they get bad. Like weekly - or more in this weather.

Before I got mine coated I used Wonder Wheels (which IMO is the best) and I used to wax 'em afterwards. That way the shite would wash off fairly easily the next time.

But there is nothing better then taking them off and getting a brillo pad on the inside of the wheel. It sounds strange to makes a huge difference when the inside of them are clean too

Stuart

You obviously have time on your hands ! Wanna clean my wheels too ? biggrin.gif
