the golf may have had a harder life than the bora

No doubt although the Golf appears unmolested, the Bora has been modded with a K & N filter, so who knows.

Need to see the car.

Golf GTI. Wanted one since that ad in the 80s when that posh lady flounced out of her fella's house shedding fur coats and pearls but she kept her GTI....

we have an a3 1.8t and i have a bora 2.8

the bora is a far nicer drive, the golf will be better on petrol and may be faster on paper but the v5 engine aint far off the v6 in mine (170bhp vs 201) and in the real word the extra torque makes for a more relaxed drive and quicker in the real world

you will always get more for your money with the bora

The V5 I'm lined up to buy is a 2.3 - got the stats up together

http://www.parkers.co.uk/cars/specs/Detail.aspx?deriv=24007 for the Golf and

http://www.parkers.co.uk/cars/specs/Detail.aspx?deriv=16267 for the Bora

Apart from the leathers, can't see anything to split them spec wise, the performance does look better on the Golf - much more torque than the Bora

Wow, just spotted this, the economy on this is awesome and thats low mileage for a diesel - and fsh, tax, mot etc....

Hmm, methinks I might be losing my £50 deposit on the Bora and having a Big Think

god sake woman, look its simple

Golf = boyracer type = police watch out for them, as people with no sense tend to rag the arse off them.

Bora = Stealth Boyracer type = Police don't really pay attention as its something someone with more sense should be driving.

So you get shot of the zed as its too much to run, and now your trying to figure out what car to by, you want the golf because its faster, yet guzzles less. yet the bora looks comfy as hell yet looks like a smacked cows arse.

hmmm. id say Golf to be honest. if your trying to save money. then go for the more economical of the two. (PS a golf isnt fast when up against a zed)

Lol, you're right when you say the Bora ain't pretty. To be honest, its the thought of immaculate cream leathers and a 4 yrs old....eek!! Lol

I know nothing will be fast like the Zed, hell, I wouldn't even want to compare, but I don't want to be feeling the need to push my feet through the floorpan and run a la Fred Flinstone because I bought a car with a ball and chain attached! I sold the Zed for lots of reasons, the need for rear seats was a major factor, and running costs and practicality. The Bora I picked is a luxury car on a small budget, no doubt, its just I have always liked Golfs.....simple? Not when its a woman making a decision (again, got that in before you did :winkiss:)

if you got the Golf and you parked it against the bora in Asda car park you would regret buying the golf ..the bora is not that much slower on teh road than the golf its not as twitchy on the limit its so much more classy and rare on the road ...and lets face it around town stop start traffic its going to be negilgible the fuel consumption differential ..itall comes down to where would you rather have your bum parked ..on cream leather or blue scratchy nylon ???

Argh, dunno, Recaros in the Golf......cream leather, 4 yr old daughter with snowy boots.....luxury and higher running costs over faster less luxurious interior and cheaper running.

Will call the garage later, see if the Golf is even still there....

Leather wipes clean ;)

The gti tdi u put a link upto is the 115bhp they feel so slow compared to the 130,, i would get a 130 then get the £20 chip off bay & it puts it up to 145/150 bhp with more torque & better fuel economy... I much prefer the look of the bora & there is some nice subtle kits out there for them to make them stand out from the rest,
