My mates cat Scampi was rushed to the vets Wednesday as had been acting odd for a few days. Was a little off his food and a bit depressed. Nothing emensly worrying until Wednesday night when we notised him limping then drooing a lot so we got him off to the vets.

After bood tests he has been confirmed he has ingested antifreeze and is on a drip. No idea if he will make it but fingers crossed.

Just as a side note please take care when topping up your cars over the winter and mop up any spills.

I didnt know cats and dogs both find antifreeze sweet and tasty and are more than happy to drink it. A couple of tea spoons will kill.

We are hoping Scampi walked through some and just licked it off his paws and wont be too bad, but who kows :(

Oh no, your poor kitty. Really hope Scampi makes a full and speedy recovery

Good advice, my dog and cat are always nosing around when I am working on the car. I did notice the cat was more than interested when I was topping up the antifreeze. I hope I kept him away, bit worried now. I hope scampi makes it.

We had one of ours poison herself on floor cleaner last year and luckily she made a full recovery so keeping my fingers crossed buddy - i'm sure he'll make a full recovery :)

If it's propylene glycol based it's not too bad. If it's ethylene glycol based that's quite toxic. Fingers crossed for the cat.

Hope all goes well, and a lesson for all us cat owners.

+1 - i have learned something new, and i really hope your cat's ok dude.

wasn't there a thread like this last winter?!

poor kitty. i have (i hope) hidden all stuff like that when we got out kitten 4 weeks ago, but she is a great climber and explorer. i couldn't bare it if she got hurt :(
