Am i right in thinking that the maf is on the way out?

It used to hiccup when it spooled but now it does it all the time. I had put the maf in the airing cupboard overnight and it seemed to fix it. Now it does it all the time.

Worst of all when its cold, i assume thats because the hotter it gets the more it dries the maf out.

Thanks guys

Mark

i had a similar problem, found out my filter was getting wet from the water spray on the roads, i covered it from underneath with bits of plastic to help keep it dry and had no problems since. dont know if this helps

I totally agree. Nissan put a box around the filter for a reason. It was on it when i bought it. Saying that, ive never actually seen a standard airbox let alone seen one for sale.

ive got one on my breaker, has two square filters in a V shape that sits under the nose panel. air comes in from the bottom left and right of the boxes, and gets sucked up by the maf at the bottom sections of the V shape.

I take it they perform just as well with the standard setup

depends what mods you have, if your going for power, then a induction kit would be the better option, just fabricate something that covers the air and moisture hitting it as the air comes in from the front bumper. you dont want it too obstructive as you still need the air to help cool the rad. but what you want to do is make sure your air filter isnt just sitting out in the open in the air vents of the bumper.

Id rather not restrict it, but needs must. I would have thought that the bumper itself will cover it, that and the headlight pannel.

Ill have to see what i can do
