Well, I've had it for just over two weeks now so I thought I'd give it a clean and get some pics up.....

......I'm very pleased with it; at 305 bhp and 360 Nm of torque (and weighing in at something like 1485kg), it is pretty fast! In fact I've even managed to activate the traction control flooring it at 50mph - and that's with decent tyres:whistling:

The DAB radio is dead good as I can receive Absolute Radio anywhere without having to resort to AM; plus I can listen to Absolute 80s/Classic Rock and Planet Rock etc. Then again the 3.5 litre n/a with twin exit pipes doesn't sound too bad at full chat:winkiss:

The navigation system comes with traffic alerts and the whole thing comes with voice activation!

LOL - I sure do Dave......

.....and I don't care; so there mate....:tt2:

Nice. Didn't realise they were 305 BHP!!!

Yup - from around 2008 Merc upped the power of the 3.5 litre from 272 to 305bhp; and the emissions came down as well!! So back down to £235 road tax next year - result!!

million dollar question. which one is better to drive and quicker?

I knew someone would ask.... TBH I haven't really exploited its performance properly yet. But I'd say 0-80 the SLK will probably take my ZX; but thereafter I'm not so sure it would; if it's anything like my previous SLK that is.

This one has the AMG direct steering and sport suspension pack so it does handle well. The ZX still has better road presence though and if I had to chose between them for a 500 mile drive it would be the ZX; no question. It's a testament to just how good the 300zx is, when going from one car to the other, and a 16 year old Nissan can still hold its own against something much newer from a German prestige marque!!

Sweet cant go wrong with German stuff

So true Martin - this is my 3rd SLK now and I have nothing negative to say about German machinery!

Very nice Richard - I do like the facelift SLK & that 350 lump is an excellent engine in that car! :)

Cheers Paul - you would definitely know mate!!

I was considering the AMG55 this time (as I still hanker for a V8); but for the same money I'd be looking at a 4 year old one with quite a few more miles on it. Plus it would not have been anywhere near as well spec'd; so I chose the much newer car! The guy who bought it new must have paid a fortune as he added virtually every option - I think the only thing missing is the heated steering wheel....

The revised 350 engine is certainly a cracker and does make the AMG look a bit less attractive or necessary!

the 55 is a fantastic car but the 350 is more than enough unless you have money to burn LOL! apart from in a few years when there will only be about £1k between them!!

We are getting a few new models next year - I am not 100% but think there is a new SLK on its way. Start saving for number 4!!

Yup - I agree on the 55! I drove one a couple of years back and loved it; but like you say the 350 is more than adequate.

I think you're right about a new SLK coming out next year - I've seen a couple of pics so I reckon I'll have to start saving very soon.......
