I live walking distance from work, and tbh its only when I go back home (about 100 miles does the MPG really matter) but 15-19 not bad for a 3.0L TT Auto round town my old Mk3 2.0l TDDI Mondeo was getting in the 30's on short town drives (could get 55mpg + on motorway) And yea auto's are worse on fuel mainly due to extra losses in an auto gearbox and the fact the car decides which gear to be in not the driver

Welcome to the forum mate!!

Good luck with your search - for £3000 you should find a tidy example. My advice, look at and drive a few. Then buy the best example you find - be it UK or J-spec; manual or auto. Most of these cars are autos hence the premiums for (the more rare) manual cars; but don't let that put you off an auto. They are still great cars; plus Nissan tweaked with turbos and cams on the auto so that performance should not suffer in comparison. And they did a pretty good job.....

.....plus if you find a mint auto, you can always get it converted to manual later on if you want!
